Press release for performance with Marcos Romeros (Microsoft Word format).

At the Wit Gallery in Lenox, MA, a new artist is being given a first exhibition of a unique art form: Visual Music: Digital Paintings in Motion.

Michael Luckman's roomful of images, graphic realizations of the content of music, are his personal interpretations of a musical composition's structure and form. Each print represents up to four bars of music for a specific composition; these are stand alone works, primarily linear and constructionist, three-dimensional geometric shapes that link and interlock and combine to create pictures that often present a mystical concept. While modern, in a strangely early 20th century manner, they are much more contemporary when you see them in motion. Here is where the creator really takes on the new technologies available to graphic artists.

Individual pieces can be purchased at the Gallery, and with every picture the artist provides an audio/visual experience of the entire composition. Whether Gustav Holst's The Planets, or J.S. Bach's Prelude in C Major, Jimmy Durante singing Make Someone Happy, or the original cast recording of All That Jazz, this is a very special experience. You have the opportunity to see and hear the whole sequence that Luckman has created for your frameable artwork. It's like having a wall of art jump into life and live with you. It's all a matter of visual and musical tastes working together. At the Wit Gallery you can select your favorite, hear the recording and witness the full sequence of images before you make the commitment.
